Labour Day Tournament 17th September 2006

The Hackers arrived at the 2006 Nottingham Tournament with high expectations, new uniforms and 3 new bats, this all added to their confidence and hopes of regaining the ownership of the Plate Trophy they won in 2004.
GAME 1 saw the Hackers matched up with EMSL's 2nd Division
runners-up, The Tigers. The Hackers nerves got the better of them in
the first 4 innings resulting in only 1 run being scored. But after a
quick pep talk and a surge of team spirit the Hackers started swinging
their bats with conviction. A lead off Home Run by Neil in the 5th
started of the 8 run inning, but the Hackers flourished too late with
"No New Innings" having already been called, they couldn't quite
muster the 12 runs needed to win the game.

Final Score: Hackers 9 v. 12 Tigers

GAME 2 of the tournament was against EMSL's Division 1 winners, The Sheriffs. From the outset the Sheriffs' experience was apparent. No matter how hard the Hackers tried there was no braking the
Sheriffs' defense. But as the Sheriffs grew more confident of a shut out game gaps started to appear in their infield allowing the Hackers on the board with a total of 6 runs scored in the last two innings.

Final Score: Hackers 6 v. 15 Sheriffs

GAME 3 the last game of Group B resulted in the Hackers V. The Leicester Royals, a 1st Division team in the EMSL. At the start of the game the only thing on each and every Hackers mind was "Why the hell did I eat those sandwiches!?" As the Royals won the toss and opted to field first, the first two Hackers up to the plate where grateful for a walk, and as the bats where being swung well, it could be said that those sandwiches worked a treat!. Scoring a total of 6 runs in the 1st inning, the Hackers where off to an impressive start. A further 11 runs scored in the 2nd inning secured the win for the Hackers and also 2nd place in Group B, taking them trough to the Cup/Plate Playoffs
Final Score: Hackers 20 v. 4 Royals
